The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP) invites you to attend the following sessions on the pre-conference day of Localisation World Seattle, 16 October 2007:

TILP: Localisation Training and Education

Presenter: Reinhard Schäler, The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP), Localisation Research Centre (LRC)

Training and education are crucial for a maturing localization industry. While short-term, targeted localization training seems to be well received by professionals and the industry alike, long-term, broader educational offers seem to struggle. This session aims to bring together training and educational practitioners to take stock of current offerings, to discuss the future of localization training and education, and to prepare a declaration for localization training and education.Among the questions to be addressed at the round table will be:

  • Taking stock I: training and educational offers 
  • Taking stock II: certification — academic and professional Discussion:
    • Is one professional certification system desirable — the case of the Certified Localization Professional (CLP) Programme
    • Pricing –professionals, especially in developing regions, cannot afford current offerings 
  • Outlook
